The delegation of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) visited Kuwait and met with the General Administration of Customs and KATC to discuss matters related to the reactivation of the "TIR" system in the State of Kuwait. .The meeting was held on Monday, 17/12/2018 at the
General Administration of Customs, and included the third agenda of the TIR team
- Adoption of the minutes of the second meeting.
- To provide an update on the latest developments in the GCC and the Middle East region on a wider scale.
- Discuss the plan of action of international transport routes in order to reactivate the TIR system in the State of Kuwait.
- Discussion of the bodies that will inspect vehicles and containers.
- Discuss the implementation of IT systems tools.
- Discuss the TIR Guarantee Agreement (and its signature)
- Discuss the procedures of international transport and laws in Kuwait.
- Discussion on customs offices to be opened for the TIR system.
- Discuss the capacity building and training requirements in Kuwait Customs.
- Discussing the actual procedures for the transfer of customs in Kuwait and in the GCC countries and how they are expected to participate in the system of international transport routes in the future in line with the international law of the united Gulf Cooperation Council.
- receive the statistics and data on the number of containers that pass between Kuwait and the GCC countries, Jordan and so on.
- The next UN meeting in February 2019 and the possible participation of Kuwait.

The meeting was followed by some road transport companies to review the benefits of the TIR system to facilitate trade between Kuwait and other countries.
IRU then trained the staff of Kuwait Automobile and Touring Club how to deal with the TIR carnet.
